  • 10:01 Right here, the northeastern hills of Elah, in the ruins

  • 10:34 Scrolls by almost a millennia.
  • 10:38 And that's striking for a variety of
  • 10:40 reasons, and why is that?
  • 10:42 Because this was a fortress that dates back to the era of David.
  • 10:49 That's significant because we live in a world today where
  • 10:52 there are many revisionist sorts that are trying to rewrite

  • 11:01 You know, they want to rewrite history in order to

  • 11:25 And now here in a fortress that dates back to David's day,
  • 11:30 we find Hebrew script.
  • 11:32 And this is interesting in part because the fact that there
  • 11:35 would be a Hebrew fort here, it's an extension fort.
  • 11:38 Arguably, there was there a strong kingdom in Jerusalem and

  • 11:49 went against Goliat, Goliath.

  • 11:56 archaeology, in various ways,

  • 12:44 everything was taken, in fact.
  • 12:46 And people were so mad at him as a leader,
  • 12:48 they were ready to stone him.
  • 12:50 We're told in the Hebrew Bible, chapter 30, verse 6, "Vattetzer
  • 12:55 ledavid me'od," and David was greatly distressed because of
  • 12:59 the defeats that he had experienced just then.
  • 13:03 And people, we're told, were ready to stone him.
  • 13:06 Leadership is very precarious, just like standing here is
  • 13:08 precarious to tell you the God's honest truth.
  • 13:10 Sometimes the winds blow for you, sometimes against you.
  • 13:13 David was on the downside of it all.
  • 13:15 But we're told here in the text, "Vaiyitchazzek David b'Adonai
  • 13:21 Elohav," and David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
  • 13:26 For those of us that want to be good leaders,
  • 13:28 we have to fall back on our knees sometimes because the
  • 13:31 truth of the matter is there are challenges.
  • 13:33 And what happened? David strengthened himself.
