- 02:41 To start off, he says, "The angel showed me."
- 02:43 There's a lot of angelic presentation
- 02:46 in the book Revelation.
- 02:48 The word "angel," from the Greek "angelos,"
- 02:50 harks to the word "messenger," and similarly
- 02:52 in Hebrew, "malach."
- 02:54 The word for "angel" harks to the Ugaritic verb "lach,"
- 02:58 which means "to send."
- 02:59 Thus, a messenger.
- 03:01 When we look in early Genesis, when we see paradise,
- 03:05 there are the cherubim, these warring angelic types
- 03:09 that are noted.
- 03:10 We discussed them previously.
- 03:12 Seraphim, a similar angelic messenger, appear later.
- 03:17 And here again, angels are present and showing a river
- 03:22 of the water of life here in the restored Eden.
- 03:26 We're in paradise restored on earth.
- 03:29 We're told that this river flows from the throne of God.
- 03:34 This harks, by the way, to the Prophet Ezekiel, who in the 47th
- 03:39 chapter saw from the Heikal, from the temple, from the Beit
- 03:45 HaMikdash, from the holy house, a river flowed from it and
- 03:49 watered and healed the earth.
- 03:52 He predicted it here.
- 03:54 It's not just water flowing from the throne of God,
- 03:57 but from the throne on the Lamb.
- 03:59 The Lamb of God, the sacrifice, Jesus, who is God incarnate
- 04:06 manifest, if you will, the water flows from him and the Lamb.
- 04:12 We're told as we read on that the water flows.
- 04:16 "On either side of the river was a tree of life."
- 04:20 Here again, we're picking up on a paradise motif from Bereshit,
- 04:25 from Genesis, and similarly here in paradise restored.
- 04:29 And we're told, by the way, when we get to verse 5,
- 04:32 and I'm interested in this 'cause we're told that,
- 04:34 "Night will be no more, and people will have
- 04:37 no need for lamplight or sunlight."
- 04:39 And I can tell you right now, with the sun shining in my eyes,
- 04:43 I kinda look forward to the day when I don't need sunlight.
- 04:45 And the reason is here because,
- 04:48 "The Lord himself will shine on them.
- 04:52 And they will reign forever and ever!"
- 04:55 Again, a beautiful picture of paradise restored.
- 04:58 It harks back to Genesis.
- 05:01 The question is, and I wanna just put the landing gear down
- 05:04 on this segment by raising it, who's going to be there with me?
- 05:10 Paradise is opened up.
- 05:12 In Genesis, it was closed up with a cherubim, the angel,
- 05:15 making sure no one came back in.
- 05:18 What's interesting, by the way, in the Genesis text,
- 05:22 they left from the east.
- 05:24 And in the tabernacle itself, there was only one entrance
- 05:27 and exit from the east.
- 05:28 In this new Jerusalem, there's entrances and exits all over the
- 05:31 place and it's open to everyone, as we saw previously noted
- 05:36 as that the nations are there, individuals
- 05:39 of non-Jewish extract.
- 05:41 You know, God's grace wasn't just to extend to Jewish people.
- 05:46 As noted previously, the plan was, as the Lord was bringing

- 10:17 A lot of us, sad to say, are serving our own business

- 10:24 Here, there's a restored world, we're told,

- 10:34 Better it is, it seems to me, that we not wait til then.
- 10:37 In fact, if we're planning on waiting til then,
- 10:39 it's not gonna work out.
- 10:40 We're told here his servants shall serve him.

- 10:47 To throw Greek at you, it sounds impressive, like I'm trying

- 10:53 drilling down to the original.
- 10:54 The word "latreuo," it's referred to here as serving him,
