Forewarnings of Destruction
Early in Josiah’s reign, several prophets— Zephaniah, Habakkuk, and eventually Jeremiah—forewarned the coming destruction of Babylon. In the aftermath of the October 7 attack by Hamas, the Bearded Bible Brothers roam the desolate streets of Jerusalem explaining the children of Israel’s historic cycles of disobedience, persecution, deliverance, and finally reformation.

- 00:52 destruction whether King Josiah knew it or not.
- 00:55 You know, many years prior they saw the Assyrian Empire come and
- 01:00 take the children of Israel captive.
- 01:02 Those were the ten northern tribes also called Samaria, and
- 01:06 at this moment, Judah was getting forewarnings by God
- 01:10 that judgment would come to them as well.
- 01:12 Joshua Colson: Pro tip, when God says judgment is coming,
- 01:15 you repent.
- 01:17 Joshua: Originally, we were scheduled to film this in
- 01:20 Lachish, but war broke out between Israel and the
- 01:22 Gaza Strip.
- 01:24 So, even though we wanted to show you the historical place
- 01:27 where Syrian Babylon fulfilled the prophecy, blew Lachish out

- 01:33 Here we are today.
- 01:34 Caleb: So, back to the story.
- 01:35 Judgment was coming on the kingdom of Judah.
- 01:39 God always sent his prophets early in advance to give them
- 01:43 that advanced warning.
- 01:44 We’re talking all the way back to the time of Moishe, Moses.
- 01:48 They heard what would happen in the future when they would turn
- 01:51 from God and follow after other gods.
- 01:53 Let’s read that scripture.
- 01:54 Deuteronomy 29:26-28, “They went off and worshiped other
- 01:59 gods and bow down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had
- 02:03 not given them.
- 02:04 Therefore, the Lord’s anger burned against this land so that
- 02:07 he brought on it all the curses written in this book.
- 02:10 In furious anger and in great wrath of the Lord uprooted them

- 02:38 Oh, we did take a pomegranate and squeeze it.
- 02:42 Joshua: That prophecy was spot on.
- 02:44 The Israelites had future warning of their impending
- 02:47 consequences and the Lord supernaturally came in and saved
- 02:50 them on several occasions, but no matter what happened, they
- 02:53 never seemed to find consistency in their devotion to God.
- 02:56 It was always a roller coaster that was up and down.
- 02:59 The cycle went something like this.
- 03:01 Caleb: Okay, Israelites sin, get into apostasy, God sends his
- 03:04 prophets, warns in the judgment.
- 03:06 God removes his hand of protection.
- 03:08 Enemy comes, oppresses God’s people, they cry out to God for
- 03:11 help, God sends a deliverer, Israelites will say, yay, they
- 03:14 worship God again, and after their death, the vicious cycle
- 03:18 starts all over again.
- 03:19 Caleb: Now, I’m not a mathematician, but you
- 03:22 guys failed.
- 03:23 Joshua: Man, that’s a terrible cycle.
- 03:26 Maybe they figured it out the 15th time.
- 03:28 Caleb: Jeremiah 25:4-7, “Moreover, Adonai has sent to
- 03:33 you all of His servants the prophets, sending them early and
- 03:36 often but you have not listened or inclined your ear to hear,
- 03:39 saying, ‘Turn, now, everyone from his evil way.

- 04:33 Caleb: Yes, yes, it does.

- 04:41 the words of the prophet fulfilled.
- 04:43 Their brethren, Israel, were hauled away in shackles to a

- 04:58 supernaturally intervened this pompous, arrogant army when

- 05:12 the words of the prophets and they failed to send and apostasy
- 05:15 again, and the next word from the prophets would be of an even
- 05:19 greater enemy that would come, Babylon.
- 05:23 Joshua: Habakkuk 1:5-6, “Look at the nations and watch and be

- 05:28 I am raising up the Babylonians, that ruthless and impetuous

- 05:51 closed, a lot of the tourist sites are closed.
- 05:54 People are just chilling, wondering where do we go?
- 05:57 Let’s just sit around, eat some food, street vendor food.
- 06:03 Caleb: That prophecy from Habakkuk was given in the early
- 06:06 years of Josiah’s life, possibly even during his father’s life,
- 06:10 Ammon, but it calls out Babylon by name during a time when
- 06:15 Assyria was a world dominating ruler of that known territory.
- 06:20 And I find it interesting that Babylon was a lesser known area.
- 06:24 It wasn’t even a kingdom that people would think for an
- 06:26 instant would be able to rise up and become a world superpower.
- 06:30 Joshua: Yet, in God’s never-ending mercy, he sent his
- 06:33 servant, the prophets, to warn us of impending things.
- 06:37 Not to sit here and say look what you’ve done, you’re
- 06:40 horrible, to berate you, degrade you like your little
- 06:42 sister might.
- 06:44 No, he sent them so that he could inform you, you could make
- 06:47 the change and you could draw closer to him.
- 06:51 Joshua: Micah 1:16, “Shave your head in mourning, for the
- 06:54 children in whom you delight.
- 06:55 Make yourself as bald as the vulture, for they will go from
- 06:58 you into exile.
- 07:00 Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound
- 07:03 overgrown with thickets.”
- 07:07 Joshua: Micah prophesied the doom of Jerusalem and their
- 07:12 exile long before Babylon ever showed up at their doorstep, but
- 07:15 we do know that biblically, archaeologically, historically,
- 07:18 Babylon did come and decimate Jerusalem.
- 07:21 Jeremiah 34:7, When the army of the king of Babylon was warring
- 07:25 against Jerusalem and against all the cities of Judah that
- 07:28 were left against Lachish, against Azekah, for these alone
- 07:31 remained all the cities of Judah as fortified cities.”
- 07:34 Caleb: Now, one of the many reasons we originally wanted to
- 07:37 go to Lachish, bombs are raining down again, we’re reminding you
- 07:41 so we can’t go over there right now, is because there was this
- 07:44 discovery move there many years ago on that tell.
- 07:47 Archaeological discovery was called the Lachish letters.
- 07:51 There were 18 pottery shards that had ancient Hebrew writings
- 07:55 on them.
- 07:56 They call them ostracon, and this verifies the story of
- 07:59 the Bible.
- 08:01 Joshua: Take that, even your kitchen pots are on God’s side.
- 08:06 Caleb: During a time when Nebuchadnezzar was besieging
- 08:09 Jerusalem, he was also besieging Lachish and Azekah and he had
- 08:15 them cornered, and so they had to have a secret form
- 08:17 of writing.
- 08:19 They wrote on these ostracon pots and sent messages back
- 08:21 and forth.
- 08:23 So, I want to read one of these messages because it backs up
- 08:25 that Bible story.
- 08:26 It’s called ostracon number three.
- 08:28 It was written in 609 B.C.
- 08:30 and it mentions the prophet Jeremiah and the prophet Uriah.
- 08:33 It says, “The commander of the army, Coniah, son of Elnatan,
- 08:37 has gone down to go to Egypt.
- 08:39 And as for the letter of Tobiah, the servant of the king, which
- 08:42 came to Shallum, son of Yada from the prophet,
- 08:45 saying, ‘Beware!
- 08:47 Your servant has sent it to my lord.'”
- 08:50 This is backing up a scripture passage in Jeremiah 26:20-23, an
- 08:55 interesting story where there is this rogue prophet Uriah who
- 08:58 says you guys gotta surrender, and the king at that time,
- 09:03 Jehoiakim, tries to hunt him down and he sends Elnatan, which
- 09:07 is the son of Akbar, who is Josiah’s trusted attendant, to
- 09:11 go hunt him down.
- 09:12 He goes all the way to Egypt to kill him.
- 09:13 When he mentions the prophet by name, he’s talking about
- 09:16 Jeremiah the prophet, verifying the Bible over and over again,
- 09:19 these ostracon.
- 09:20 You read about the prophet warns, the prophet warns, this
- 09:22 verifies the Bible that indeed what the Bible says is accurate
- 09:26 according to Babylon’s invasion and God’s warnings
- 09:29 against Judah.
- 09:31 Caleb: Zephania 1:4-6, “I will stretch out My hand against
- 09:35 Judah, and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
- 09:38 I will cut off every trace of Baal from this place, the names
- 09:41 of the idolatrous priests with the pagan priests.
- 09:44 Those who worship the host of heaven on the housetops, those
- 09:47 who worship and swear oaths by the Lord, but who also swear by
- 09:51 Milcom; those who have turned back from following the Lord,
- 09:54 and have not sought the Lord nor inquired of Him.”
- 09:58 Caleb: This was a prophecy that probably shook Josiah to his
- 10:01 very core, spoken by the prophet Zephaniah before his reforms
- 10:05 began and before Jeremiah would come on the scene, because the
- 10:09 detail that all these gods and goddesses and these high places
- 10:13 that the Judaeans were currently worshiping were false.
- 10:17 They were demons, and these idols were bringing about their
- 10:20 own doom and destruction.
- 10:21 Joshua: You know, there’s evil spirits behind every false idol.
- 10:24 They just love the attention.
- 10:26 Caleb: You said it, not me.
- 10:28 Joshua: I am not an evil spirit, come on.
- 10:33 Joshua: Nimrod worked with Satan to form the world’s very first
- 10:35 religions, the worship of the heavens, even fallen angels, but
- 10:39 God punished them by scattering the people.
- 10:42 You see, Israel had made a covenant with God to be his
- 10:45 bride, so you can understand how a jealous God wouldn’t want to
- 10:49 share his spouse with demons.
- 10:51 I know I wouldn’t.
- 10:52 Joshua: Jeremiah 3:6-11, “During the reign of King Josiah, the
- 10:56 Lord said to me, ‘Have you seen what faithless Israel has done?
- 11:00 She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading
- 11:03 tree and has committed adultery there.
- 11:06 I thought that after she had
- 11:07 done all this she would return
- 11:08 to me but she did not, and her
- 11:10 unfaithful sister Judah saw it.
- 11:12 I gave faithless Israel her
- 11:13 certificate of divorce
- 11:15 and sent her away because
- 11:16 of all of her adulteries.
- 11:18 Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear.
- 11:21 She also went out and committed adultery, because Israel’s
- 11:24 immorality mattered so little to her, she defiled the land and
- 11:28 committed adultery with stone and wood.
- 11:30 The Lord said to me, ‘Faithless Israel is more righteous than
- 11:33 unfaithful Judah.'”
- 11:35 Caleb: Come on, the siren’s going off, you know what we have
- 11:38 to do.
- 11:40 Joshua: Finish my shawarma.
- 11:41 Caleb: No, no, no, we gotta go in the bunker.
- 11:43 Joshua: Finish my shawarma.
- 11:45 Caleb: Alright, fine, finish your shawarma.
- 11:46 Joshua: Thank you.
- 11:48 Caleb: I think the Iron Dome got ’em.
- 11:50 Yeah, God bless the Iron Dome and the USA for helping to
- 11:53 provide the Iron Dome, now we can eat.
- 11:59 Caleb: The Lord does nothing without speaking through his
- 12:02 servants the prophets, so the question is not has God spoken
- 12:05 through Israel or the nations and America of this coming
- 12:08 judgment, the question is why haven’t we paid attention to the
- 12:11 warning signs?
- 12:12 We have allowed blinders to cover our eyes because of our
- 12:15 love for sin.
- 12:17 We have bowed to many idols, many demons.
- 12:20 We’ve failed to look to Israel the fig tree to calculate the
- 12:23 coming in, but the signs of the end times are all around us if
- 12:26 you’re in Israel.
- 12:27 Even today, rockets were shot off from the Gaza Strip even
- 12:30 coming as far as Jerusalem.
- 12:32 Sirens were going off and we were forced into bomb shelters.
- 12:36 Yeshua is coming soon, these are just the birth pains.
- 12:39 Joshua: He is coming soon, and while it’s not so prevalent in
- 12:41 America anymore or necessarily Jerusalem, but when we grew up
- 12:44 in a time period before the ’90s, it was not weird to go
- 12:48 through the streets of downtown and see people holding signs
- 12:51 that said, “The end is near, repent now.”
- 12:54 You don’t really see that now.
- 12:55 In fact, if somebody saw a sign that said the end is near,
- 12:59 they’d probably say that that was sus.
- 13:01 Now, because I’m super young I’ll translate for those of you
- 13:04 who are older, that means to be suspect
- 13:06 or cringey in today’s generation.
- 13:08 Joshua: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know my kids already told me that was
- 13:10 a very sus explanation of sus.
- 13:15 Joshua: But just because every one of those signs that was held
- 13:18 up, maybe those people didn’t have the right motivation or
- 13:20 maybe they didn’t have the right delivery, doesn’t mean that the
- 13:23 message of repentance was actually wrong.
- 13:25 The question we have to ask ourselves today is why is it
- 13:27 when somebody offers us the message of repentance, the first
- 13:30 thing we react with in our heart is no, a stubbornness, a pride?
- 13:35 I don’t need to repent, I didn’t do wrong.
- 13:36 We put up a defensive wall when we should first in reaction be,
- 13:40 Lord, judge my heart.
- 13:42 Is there something that I need to repent from?
- 13:45 In fact, the church as a whole has really neutered its own
- 13:48 voice as time has gone on.
- 13:50 Instead of preaching the message of repentance and truth, it’s
- 13:53 backed away from the idea of bad press if we say something that
- 13:55 people don’t like.
- 13:57 Getting controversial to where people, you know, may
- 13:59 stop attending.
- 14:01 Without attendance, how do we pay for our buildings?
- 14:04 So, we’ve replaced the idea repentance with this false idea
- 14:07 of grace.
- 14:09 It’s okay to do anything, anything that you want, all you
- 14:11 have to do is repent later.
- 14:14 All of these things and more are problems for us, and in the
- 14:18 Bible it says here in Matthew 7:16, “You can identify them by
- 14:22 their fruit, that is by the way they act.”
- 14:25 Caleb: The fact of the matter is, it is the church’s job to
- 14:28 defend truth and to speak truth and to declare the Word of God.
- 14:32 In fact, James 1:27 says, “Pure and genuine religion in the site
- 14:36 of God the Father means caring for the orphans and the widows
- 14:39 in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”
- 14:44 Joshua: To answer my question from earlier, why is it when we
- 14:47 hear the term repent our first reaction is to be prideful
- 14:51 and defensive?
- 14:52 Well, it’s very simple, because we don’t want to repent.
- 14:55 I know that sounds really harsh and I don’t want you to feel
- 14:58 judged or think that I’m just attacking every single person,
- 15:01 but generally when you get defensive against the idea of
- 15:03 repentance it’s because you don’t want to let go of
- 15:04 your sin.
- 15:05 You don’t want to let go of the way you’ve been living your
- 15:07 life, and a lot of times even if you’re not, quote/unquote,
- 15:09 “doing bad things,” the way you’re living your life is
- 15:12 for yourself.
- 15:13 If Yeshua came back for his bride today and he would begin
- 15:16 to walk through the streets, what would he find?
- 15:19 Sick, homeless, uncared for, people angry, fighting, shooting
- 15:24 rockets at each other, the world in complete disarray.
- 15:29 It is the responsibility of us who claim to be believers to put
- 15:32 aside our sin and cast aside all those things that would cause us
- 15:36 not to be able to live the way that the Father has set up for
- 15:40 us to do.
- 15:41 This verse right here, “I am not ashamed for the gospel of
- 15:44 Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone
- 15:48 who believes, for the Jew first and also the Greek,”
- 15:50 Romans 1:16.
- 15:52 Stand strong and proud in love.
- 15:56 It isn’t judgment to stand up and say this is the truth.
- 15:59 It isn’t judgment to condemn what is wrong.
- 16:02 If you truly love somebody, you’ll speak the truth to them,

- 18:11 Chaim: Yes, I would say there’s so many stories that need to be
- 18:14 unpacked, such as from the very beginning, from the
- 18:18 very beginning.
- 18:20 And if I have to get off I’ll have to get off with you–
- 18:24 [foreign language]
- 18:26 Sorry.
- 18:29 Caleb: Well, Chaim, we understand you’re on patrol,
- 18:33 you’re getting spotty reception, but this is the reality of
- 18:36 the situation.
- 18:38 Joshua: Wow, so he started to tell the stories about these
- 18:41 people that had sustained injuries that should have killed
- 18:43 them and then literally in a month, two or three months, he
- 18:46 sees them walking around completely whole, and the
- 18:50 question is how is this even possible?
- 18:51 And I love his response, they just healed super fast.
- 18:54 Like, funny, that just doesn’t happen.
- 18:58 It’s such a great way to, you know, if somebody doesn’t know
- 19:00 Yeshua it would be like, let me tell you why that just happened.
- 19:03 And I’m pretty sure that Chaim has been able to be that witness
- 19:06 out there.
- 19:07 We’re here waiting for a signal to come back.
- 19:09 As you could tell by his super cool outfit, he is still out
- 19:13 there on patrol.
- 19:15 I just think it’s amazing that we live in a day and age with
- 19:17 the technology where he can literally phone in from the
- 19:20 front of a war, and he’s willing to, and tell stories about
- 19:25 God’s faithfulness.
- 19:27 Hopefully we get it back soon here, but I just think
- 19:29 it’s incredible.
- 19:30 Chaim: How has the war impacted Israelis in drawing them back to
- 19:33 the God of Abraham?
- 19:34 I’d say, you know, do you remember 9/11?
- 19:37 If you’re an American watching this, 9/11 had the impact it
- 19:40 had, people were suddenly looking for answers.
- 19:43 They see the death, they see the abyss in the eyes of people, and
- 19:49 they’re searching, they’re looking, you know, what is the
- 19:51 purpose of life?
- 19:52 We’ve been given this Promised Land, we were called by a
- 19:54 promise to be here in this land and to prepare the way and
- 19:59 remove the stones, prepare the highway of our God, and the
- 20:04 Messiah will live here, but why us and why does the ugly serpent
- 20:10 try to devour the seat of hope, to borrow, you know, phraseology
- 20:15 from the Bible?
- 20:16 You know, why in the world is this happening?
- 20:19 And it’s called antisemitism, but it’s really just anti-God’s
- 20:21 plan, and when the Bible says 700 times he’s gonna gather the
- 20:24 Jewish people here, we as the Aliyah Return Center are here
- 20:27 to house them for free, and that’s thanks to generous people
- 20:30 like you.
- 20:32 And to give them not only that food, clothing, shelter, but
- 20:34 really bless them.
- 20:35 And when we see them coming back to this land, a lot of them run
- 20:39 from persecution and they’re all looking for the God of Abraham.
- 20:42 So, I’d say just like 9/11, this is one of the greatest times
- 20:47 that I’ve ever seen in my life.
- 20:50 The greatest time I’ve ever seen in my life where people are
- 20:52 searching for the truth, people are putting on prayer shawls,
- 20:57 they’re putting on the phylacteries, you know, you wrap
- 20:59 it on your arm, around your arm you’ll wrap these up.
- 21:02 The Bible does say bind my word upon the frontlets of your eyes
- 21:06 and upon your arm, and so people will do that and they’ll feel
- 21:10 that through these accessories they’re drawing close to God,
- 21:13 they’re getting closer.
- 21:14 I would say that that is prevalent, but here’s the thing,
- 21:17 they don’t know about Yeshua being the Messiah.
- 21:20 And that might sound ironic because he lived here and
- 21:22 thousands of people saw him rise up to heaven and his disciples
- 21:26 were all from here, they were Galileans like me.
- 21:29 They lived at the Sea of Galilee, but I know that there
- 21:32 is–they just don’t know, they’ve never read the
- 21:34 New Testament.
- 21:36 A lot of people say, you know, Israel has rejected the Messiah,
- 21:39 and I say, well, that’s not really true.
- 21:41 Think about it.
- 21:43 If they haven’t read it, if they haven’t read the New Testament,
- 21:44 they don’t read the words of Yeshua.
- 21:47 All they know is a false narrative that that’s some sort
- 21:49 of Catholic thing and some sort of a pagan thing maybe,
- 21:52 Christianity, and we don’t want any part of that, we want the
- 21:55 God of Israel.
- 21:57 And they don’t understand this is the Messiah of the God of
- 21:59 Israel who came to this land and made a covenant of peace with
- 22:04 this land and with this people and others are welcome to join
- 22:06 this tree of life, this olive tree of faith, and do.
- 22:11 And I just wanna say this, in this great time of war, people
- 22:15 and friends of mine have died, friends of mine have–I’ve
- 22:18 buried them, and it’s so sad, but this is the time to press
- 22:23 in, this is the time really to stand with the believers in the
- 22:26 land who are making a difference in the lives of people.
- 22:28 This is the time to build trust where you could prove that
- 22:32 Christianity isn’t this group that hates the God of Israel and
- 22:37 not have any connection to the people or the place where
- 22:41 God promised.
- 22:43 And I just wanna say this over Israel if you’ll permit me,
- 22:45 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I
- 22:47 will fear no evil, for you are with me.
- 22:49 Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
- 22:51 Just that part, you know, this is a dark time, this is a dark
- 22:56 valley, it is a shadow of death, but yet we gotta fear no evil
- 23:00 because God is still on the throne.
- 23:02 He’s still the God of Israel.
- 23:03 He still has a plan for Israel.
- 23:05 And that’s how you know he has a plan for you, because he’s
- 23:08 faithful to his promises for Israel.

- 25:58 with that, and that is in the Bible.
- 26:00 When you’re going to bless Israel, you’re going to be
- 26:01 blessed, and when you’re going to curse Israel, you’re going to

- 26:04 And America has continued to set themselves up in this bad way
- 26:06 when they decide to try to take Israel’s land, when they decide

- 26:10 When we as a nation don’t stand with Israel, we’re putting

- 26:14 Caleb Colson: And we see that in Matthew 25, the end of that
- 26:17 chapter when Yeshua just lays out the judgment of the sheep
- 26:20 and goats.
- 26:21 We see that in Joel chapter 3. This judgment is related to how
- 26:25 the nations treat Israel.
- 26:27 Did they bless Israel when they were hungry?
- 26:29 Did they feed Israel, you know, did they clothe Israel?
