  • 03:58 Ryan: So, I'm gonna take things at a different angle rather than
  • 04:01 actually fishing for fish.
  • 04:03 I'm gonna talk about fishing for men.
  • 04:06 So, as he's walking along the Sea of Galilee, he saw two

  • 04:53 men, trying to rescue people out of darkness, that also entails
  • 04:58 people that we don't love, people that we are not--we don't
  • 05:01 like, but Jesus instructs us very clear that we need to

  • 05:30 But if you react in anger, how are you gonna lead

  • 07:37 I have been crucified with Messiah; and it is no longer I
  • 07:40 who live, but Messiah lives in me.

  • 07:46 Ben-Elohim [the Son of God] who loved me and gave Himself
  • 07:50 up for me.
  • 07:51 I do not nullify the grace of God--for if righteousness comes
  • 07:54 through Torah, then Messiah died for no reason!"
  • 07:58 Caleb: You know, Ryan, I think it's important that when we're
  • 08:01 talking about salvation to the Jewish people, that we really go
  • 08:05 into the justification by faith versus by works because for
  • 08:09 Jews, it's really important that we earn our salvation.
  • 08:12 We're really big on works, on following the law and Torah, but
  • 08:17 even when I see Jews come to faith and they join the
  • 08:22 Messianic community, they still gravitate back toward
  • 08:24 works of the law.
  • 08:26 And Paul had the same difficulty in scripture with
  • 08:29 the church of Galatia.
  • 08:30 They had a group called the Judaizers in there.
  • 08:33 These Judaizers, they were okay with Gentiles coming to faith in
  • 08:37 Yeshua if they got circumcised.
  • 08:39 That's kind of hard for a Gentile to suddenly get
  • 08:42 circumcised when you're, like, 40 years old.
  • 08:44 I mean, this wasn't a popular thing.
  • 08:46 And Paul said, "Oh, there's a lot of false
  • 08:48 teaching going on there.
  • 08:49 He gave a very stern warning to them in scripture in Galatians
  • 08:53 3, chapter 1 to 3.
  • 08:54 He says, "O foolish Galatians, who cast a spell on you?
  • 08:58 Before your eyes Yeshua the Messiah was clearly portrayed
  • 09:01 as crucified.
  • 09:03 I want to find out just one thing from you guys: did you
  • 09:06 receive the Ruach [the Spirit] by deeds [by works] based on
  • 09:11 Torah [the law] or by hearing based on trust?" by faith.
  • 09:14 "Are you so foolish?
  • 09:16 After being with the Spirit, will you now reach the goal in
  • 09:19 the flesh?"
  • 09:20 In Judaism, the law is the mitzvot.
  • 09:23 And the mitzvot is very important to Jews.
  • 09:26 We have all these different commandments, but I remember
  • 09:30 Yeshua, he kind of summed it down to two very
  • 09:34 specific commandments.
  • 09:36 In one he said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart,
  • 09:39 soul, mind, and strength."
  • 09:40 And two, "Love your neighbor as yourself.
  • 09:42 Under these two, hang all the law and the prophets."
  • 09:45 That's a whole lot easier because he fulfilled the law.
  • 09:47 And Paul was warning the church in Galatians that if you try to
  • 09:52 adhere to every point of the law, then it can put you under
  • 09:55 the curse because there's no way you can fulfill all the law.
  • 09:59 He says in Galatians 4:9-11, "But now you have come to know
  • 10:03 God--or rather you have come to be known by God.
  • 10:06 So how can you turn back again to those weak and
  • 10:09 worthless principles?
  • 10:10 Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again?
  • 10:12 You observe the days and months and seasons and years.
  • 10:15 [This is the shabbats, the new moons,
  • 10:17 the mo'edim, the feasts]."
  • 10:19 He says, "I fear for you, that perhaps I have labored
  • 10:21 over you in vain!"
  • 10:23 Putting so much stock into keeping all the commandments,
  • 10:25 the laws and everything, he says, "This can mean to your
  • 10:29 destruction, this can mean harm to you."
  • 10:31 And I know elsewhere, he also mentioned not to judge people
  • 10:35 who decide not to keep those feasts and festivals.
  • 10:38 He says in Colossians 2:16, "Therefore do not let anyone
  • 10:41 judge you by what you eat or drink or with regard to a
  • 10:44 religious festival, a New Moon celebration, or Sabbath day."
  • 10:48 I mean, this is good stuff.
  • 10:49 I mean, it's fun to keep the feast of the Lord, to keep
  • 10:52 Pesach and Shabbat and all that, but you don't get brownie points
  • 10:56 of God if you don't keep them the way that people tell you to.
  • 10:59 And he spoke again to the church of Galatia.
  • 11:01 He said in chapter 3, verses 10 to 13, "For all who rely on the
  • 11:06 deeds of Torah are under a curse--for the Scripture says,
  • 11:10 'Cursed is everyone who does not keep doing.
  • 11:12 Everything written in the scroll of the Torah.'
  • 11:14 It is clear that no one is set right before God by Torah, for
  • 11:19 'the righteous shall live by faith,' however, Torah is not
  • 11:23 based on trust and faithfulness; on the contrary, 'the one who
  • 11:26 does not do these things shall live by them.'
  • 11:28 See, Messiah liberated us from Torah's curse, having become a
  • 11:31 curse for us [for it is written], 'Cursed is everyone
  • 11:35 who hangs on a tree.'"
  • 11:37 So, we couldn't do it.
  • 11:38 I'm not good enough to fulfill all the law, and we don't wanna
  • 11:41 have temple sacrifices anymore.
  • 11:43 We can't even do that stuff, you know, we can't burn cows and
  • 11:45 chickens, like your chickens, if you do something bad.
  • 11:48 So, we can't try to do it because Yeshua did it all
  • 11:52 for us.
  • 11:53 Caleb: The choice is clear.
  • 11:54 I would rather live under the law of the Spirit of life in
  • 11:57 Yeshua, Christ Jesus.
  • 11:59 His grace will then be sufficient for you when you
  • 12:01 mess up.
  • 12:03 Ryan: Can you imagine, like, just what life would be like if
  • 12:06 everyone loved?
  • 12:08 Like honestly, like, it's so simple, like, the concept of
  • 12:11 just following Jesus, but like, if everyone loved, there would
  • 12:15 never be a war.
  • 12:16 It's such a simple concept and it's hard--it is sometimes hard
  • 12:18 to grasp because Jesus's love is almost hard to comprehend.
  • 12:23 Israel: So, the more God's love we give away, the happier we
  • 12:26 are ourselves.
  • 12:27 Caleb: That's right, and that's how we catch the fish.
  • 12:29 Except those are like the spiritual fish.
  • 12:31 We don't seem to have any real--
