July 01, 1983 Personal Letter

Dear Friends,

We are the fortunate owners of twelve new location programs! Our tour of the Middle East is back now and we were able to film in Israel, the Greek Islands and Athens. We have some truly fresh and creative footage which we will process into the new programs by the middle of September.

We did some things quite differently than in the past. For one thing, we brought the singing group Lamb along with us and video taped them on location. The effect, therefore, was much greater than with “background music”; the group is there to be been at the holy places about which they are singing.

We also have some footage that you simply couldn’t see anywhere else.

We obtained permission to film at the Parthenon in Athens, on Mars Hill itself, and inside of the Jerusalem Great Synagogue, to mention some highlights. The TV crew was able to film from a hydraulic platform on the back of a fire truck at the Damascus Gate from 10 stories high. They shot the Dome of the Rock and the Mount of Olivet from the rare vantage point of the Western City Wall.

We were also able to investigate the very latest finds in the archeological digs by the Southern Wall of the Temple site. We were assisted by an expert archeologist and historian who will appear on these two important programs. There were excellent shots of the fields of Ruth and Boaz near Bethlehem, the incredible water falls at Ein Gedi, the inside of out Lord’b empty tomb and numerous incomparable sites. Truly this was our most fruitful location venture thus far. Thank you for making it all possible.

At the same time we took along a great many pilgrims and showed them God’s principle arena of operations. The tour covered Egypt as well as Israel and the Greek sites. Israel itself was a delight to the tourists and the cruise was a pleasure as always. The entire complex undertaking had some difficult moments but all in all it added up to a great experience. I think you will appreciate that when you view the programs. Though they will start locally in September, it will take a few months until they circulate throughout the nation.

I said above that we were the “owners” of these new programs but in reality we are only the mortgage holders. What we have been able to do so far is make the down-payment. I think you know what 1 mean. A few months back I was telling you that the time would come when we would need your increased support. Back then I told you that our needs would be greatest when it came time to produce the new fall programs. Many of you kindly sent gifts along before we embarked and we are deeply appreciative of that. But as the Scripture says, “Now is the appointed time.” If you will be kind enough to increase your financial support now it will help us at this critical moment.

Thank you in advance and God bless you every one. Be sure to stay tuned far the new programs.

Yours in His love,
