August 01, 1980 Personal Letter

Dear Friends of ZOLA LEVITT LIVE:

Stay tuned—the new shows are on the way!

We’ve already taped two good prophecy shows, and by the time you read this three more will be ready. The fall season will be new and fresh, with the emphasis on teaching as you requested. Be sure to watch in August.

This is a time to say a heartfelt thanks. Your support has made these new shows possible. We had to remain in re-runs for quite a tong period while we got a proper budget together, but now we’re ready. Thanks, and thanks again for helping.

Be sure to tell us know how you like the new shows. We’ve taken your suggestions seriously and we’ve tried to give you what you asked for. A lot is at stake—the price of a month of new productions would buy a fine car; a year’s worth would pay for a mansion.

But we don’t need a mansion here and now. “In my Father’s house are many mansions,” Jesus said. What we need here and now are ways to get people to Jesus’ Father’s house!

We think that constant Bible teaching on television is a most effective way to bring all sorts of people to the Lord. Our letters Indicate that the unbelievers are watching, and that the believers are gathering new witnessing Information week in and week out.

I’m especially excited to report that a new network has picked up ZOLA LEVITT LIVE. Trinity Broadcasting Network began airing our shows July 26th. They serve 300 cable stations, plus broadcasting channels in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Miami and Oklahoma City. Please tell your friends in those cities to watch us on Saturday nights at 10:30 (8:30 In Miami).

The new network gave us a very good deal on the airtime so that we were willing to take the chance. The costs are considerable but we’ll nearly double our audience. Also, we will be able to reach out to huge Jewish communities in Los Angeles and Miami, a very special blessing (Genesis 12:3).

Now I’ve always felt that, financially speaking, television is the world’s most dangerous Indoor sport. But I have come to rely on our ever-growing family to keep things going. My special request this time is for our new people on the new network.

The new people won’t find ZOLA LEVITT LIVE the first week, and they probably won’t send many gifts until they’re sure of, us and what we teach. That is how things should be. The television teachers should have to earn their stripes with each new audience. Christians are to “test the spirits,” especially with teachers, and I’m glad they do that.

But somebody has to pay their way for awhile. I have no doubt that the new network will support itself as time passes. God has not failed us yet! But In the meanwhile we need new shows for you and airtime money for them.

The situation reminds me of Paul’s appeal to the churches In Asia to help the brethren back in Israel. Food was short and there was persecution in the Holy Land. The Apostle simply asked the churches who were seeing better times to take up the slack, and they did so. Thank God for their love.

In this case, you are enjoying the “better times”—the new shows, the new offers. Perhaps you could help with the burden of. the new network until it can carry its own burdens. I would deeply appreciate that.

You don’t often get a chancy to help people by the millions! Those population centers badly need solid Bible teaching–especially Los Angeles. A friend once told me that Los Angeles was “God’s country.” Now that I’ve seen certain parts of it I wonder where the devil’s country is!

I think you can see by the way I write that I’m not as worried as I used to be about all our problems. I confess that I had not been properly trusting the Lord, nor waiting patiently enough for His will to work out. Many of you told me so, and I had it coming.

We’re not out of the woods yet by any means, but I somehow feel very encouraged now. The idea of a whole new network is very exciting! Producing new shows is very exciting, too (after all, I didn’t get into this ministry to just sit behind a desk).

Things looked very dark for us this past spring and I was discouraged. In actual fact, things are much more chancy now, but I feel better. Your letters helped a great deal, and your faithful giving has brought us to this time of real enthusiasm.

If you can help with this new network this is the time far it. We’ll get our first airtime bills in August and they’ll be hefty. If you ever had the thought, “One of these days I’m going to surprise Zola with a real gift,” go ahead and do it right now. I love surprises that help me minister.

And do me one more favor. Tell everyone you can to watch the new shows. The fall is when people decide what shows they’re going to watch all year. In all humility, our new productions are better than ever. We’re beginning to really get the hang of this thing. Believe me, you can recommend us.

God bless you all, and do let me hear from you.

In His love,
