Dear Friends,
Back from Israel safe and sound and what a time we had! “Therefore they shall come and sing on the heights of Zion…”
Somehow each group of pilgrims becomes a happy family and Christian fellowship is nowhere more enriching than in Jerusalem. Perhaps it is in anticipation of the Kingdom to come that our love for one another is increased. I was deeply moved by the good witness of our group and the several salvations that were accomplished along our way. Viewers of ZOLA LEVITT LIVE become skillful testifiers to Jewish people and they one in their element in the Holy Land. I was surprised by the boldness and very gratified by the results. And our own people were subtly changed. The Talmud says when a person breathes the air of Jerusalem he grows wiser. We arrived as wide-eyed tourists and departed as solid and sound Christians who had walked in the footsteps of our King. We saw the mountains He saw, the garden where He prayed and slept, and the water upon which He once walked.
I realize that not every one of you can entertain the thought of a trip to Israel but I certainly recommend it. It’s worth ten years of Sunday School and it costs less than some vacations within our own borders. If you want to join us some time in the future, just drop us a line to that effect and we’ll see that you get information on each upcoming tour. Go and look at Jerusalem; In the Kingdom you’ll be visiting there at least a thousand times! (Zech. 14:16).
I can tell you that we are planning a Mediterranean cruise next summer which will visit Athens, Corinth, Ephesus, Patmos and the other Islands, Cairo and the pyramids and all through Israel. If you want to be a group leader and earn free passage on the cruise, contact us for the details. This makes the cruise possible for those of you who could not otherwise afford to go.
Closer to home, thank you for the land. In my last letter I told you about our need for new offices and asked if anybody had some we could use. Two different viewers have already responded by donating excellent parcels of land to this ministry which we hope to be able to trade for offices. It may seem Inappropriate to thank all of you for gifts given by two, but actually we are one family and among our talents and property we can solve any problem. Some have land and all of us can pray as I know so many of you have for this need. We all prosper when a witnessing ministry prospers. Thank you again for helping.
It really is refreshing to see that people can truly share. I frankly pity the secular business world, which is forced to operate by economic coercion and simple greed. As we watch the wealthy young football players and the wealthy team owners fight over just how to divide their millions, we can thank the Lord that we have what we have in Him. The corruption, strikes, the violence and all the sorrows of the unbelieving way totally occupy the secular mind. I barely remember my angry days before I was saved. I can only say I’m glad to be here!
There are some bright spots in that secular world, of course. We have a pilot with a major airline purchasing books from this ministry and reading them aloud through the airplane speakers! I hope when the Rapture comes, he’s already in the air, occupied with the Lord’s business. Many unbelievers watch our program and write in with good questions. And as the differences between the true Church and the secular world grow more manifest, I personally am counting on a multitude of new salvations. I sometimes sit down and wonder just how the unbelievers can hold out so long. Don’t stop witnessing. “Today is the day of salvation.”
We are getting marvelous response to our “Promised Land” series. Most everybody seems to love the programs and we are delighted. We had a complaint or two about the opening being “too political” in that it stresses that the land of Israel was indeed “promised.” Well, I’m not the One to complain to. I didn’t say anything about who the land was promised to. God said that. We’re just quoting Him (Gen. 15:14-15).
Now friends, we have to pay for those programs. In the last month or so, donations have been less than our bills and we need to plug this leak. I rather expected to fall somewhat behind as the new series began to run and the production bills arrived, but we can’t let it get out of hand. Last year we got too far behind and when that happens, I don’t get paid. They’re setting up a loan fund for the football players, but they haven’t got one for the Bible teachers.
I say the above tongue-in-cheek, of course, but we really do have to get together and meet these obligations. We try to make programs, like those in the Promised Land series, look effortless and simple to do. But you can imagine the work that goes into location television 8,000 miles from home, and the cost of that work. Please keep all that in mind as you enjoy the programs.
On the back of the enclosed envelope is an inquiry as to what channel and network you view our program on. Please kindly fill in this information each time you write. It wilt help us to keep our program coming to you if you help us in this way. Thanks.
I guess that’s all for now. It’s good to be in touch with you and as the guy on 20/20 says, “We’re in touch, so you be in touch!”
