Caption transcript for “All Hogs go to Heaven?”

  • 00:18 Caleb Colson: You know, Josh, now that we're the "Bearded Bible Brothers" and not "Our
  • 00:23 Jewish Roots", we need to give our audience something they've never seen before.
  • 00:26 Joshua Colson: Hmm, like two Jews eating a
  • 00:28 bacon cheeseburger?
  • 00:30 Caleb: Okay, Josh, keep us kosher and crawdads, I mean.
  • 00:36 I guess that goes back to the age-old question, you know,
  • 00:38 kosher versus non-kosher, Jews versus Gentiles.
  • 00:42 We need to give our audience something they've never seen
  • 00:45 before as "Our Jewish Roots."
  • 00:46 You know, something that really sticks with them.
  • 00:51 Joshua: Oh God, come on, circumcision.
  • 00:58 Caleb: Oh, okay.
  • 01:00 Joshua: Sorry.
  • 01:02 Caleb: All right, going back to it, you know, it's interesting
  • 01:04 you can go by blood separation of Jews versus Gentiles,
  • 01:08 you know.
  • 01:09 But when it really comes down to it, they care more about
  • 01:12 the action.
  • 01:14 Judaism, you know, most modern Jews don't deem us as Jewish
  • 01:17 because we believe in Yeshua.
  • 01:18 It's all about the--
  • 01:20 [phone ringing]
  • 01:21 I mean, but God calls clean--
  • 01:23 Joshua: Hello? Yep, okay, yes!
  • 01:26 Lock that date in, oh yeah, we'll be there, don't worry,
  • 01:30 yeah, shalom.
  • 01:33 Caleb: Josh, who was it?
  • 01:35 Joshua: It was Shaul.
  • 01:37 Shaul has agreed to take us to take down one of the greatest
  • 01:43 enemies to the law ever found.
  • 01:50 Do you know what that is, brother?
  • 01:52 Caleb: No, sir.
  • 01:53 Joshua: Hold on.
  • 01:54 Oh brother, you're so cute when you're not in control.
  • 01:59 Aha, no, yep, the most biggestest perpetrator of kosher
  • 02:06 law of all time, the wild boar, swine of the seven seas.
  • 02:13 We're gonna take it on, and we're gonna shoot its face off
  • 02:16 and then eat some of its precious meat, 'cause
  • 02:18 it's delicious.
  • 02:20 Caleb: What? Joshua: Oh yeah, hog hunt.
  • 02:29 Joshua: Have I ever been hog hunting before?
  • 02:31 Yes, actually once but with dogs, never with
  • 02:35 a Jewish sniper.
  • 02:37 But I do know you get hungry, and that's why I'm here at Wally
  • 02:40 World, gotta feed the boys.
  • 03:02 Joshua: So officially lost, been trying to find this location for
  • 03:05 30 minutes, tried three different GPSs with the address
  • 03:08 that Caleb sent, I can't find it.
  • 03:11 We haven't heard from any of our crew members.
  • 03:13 Shaul was there, and then Caleb just showed up, and he was about
  • 03:15 half an hour behind me.
  • 03:18 Somehow, I think maybe they're playing games with me, like not
  • 03:22 giving me the actual address.
  • 03:24 It's okay, I'm undaunted by this pettiness.
  • 03:29 But I'm in the middle of nowhere and have no clue where I am or
  • 03:32 how to find it, so that's good.
  • 03:43 Shaul Katzav: Joshua, welcome, hello, you're already recording.
  • 03:49 Joshua: I am.
  • 03:50 Well, I've had plenty of time to think about the moment, so.
  • 03:53 Shaul: Wonderful, wonderful, welcome, welcome.
  • 03:58 Caleb: Leviticus 11:1 through 4, "The Lord said to Moses and
  • 04:01 Aaron, say to the Israelites, of all the animals that live on the
  • 04:05 land, these are the ones you may eat: You may eat any animal that
  • 04:08 has a divided hoof and that chews the cud.
  • 04:11 There are some that only chew the cud or only have a divided
  • 04:14 hoof, but you must not eat them.
  • 04:17 And the pig, though it has a divided hoof, does not chew the
  • 04:20 cud; it is unclean for you.
  • 04:22 You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are
  • 04:25 unclean for you."
  • 04:28 Joshua: I know you listen to us on a regular basis and you hear
  • 04:31 the eloquence of which we speak Hebrew, the masterful art of our
  • 04:36 diction and obviously the pronunciation of these words,
  • 04:39 and you probably thought that we were born and raised in Israel.
  • 04:42 And while we are Jewish, we weren't, but we know a man who
  • 04:45 is and always will be.
  • 04:48 This is Shaul, our Hebrew sensei, the man responsible for
  • 04:51 educating us on the ways of Israel and of the native tongue.
  • 04:56 He also happens to be a very well qualified marksman from his
  • 05:01 time in the IDF, and he's been guiding us out here trying to
  • 05:04 turn us into not just city slickers but manly men.
  • 05:09 Shaul, thanks for joining us, sir.
  • 05:11 Shaul Katzav: Thank you, thank you for having me.
  • 05:13 Caleb: So you were born and raised in Israel?
  • 05:15 Shaul: I was born in Israel, grew up in, yes, suburb, grew up
  • 05:19 in Tel Aviv just realized--by beautiful beach.
  • 05:22 Just realized when I moved to here how that it's considered
  • 05:26 one of the most the ten best beaches in the world.
  • 05:29 Joshua: That you moved away from, good job.
  • 05:31 Shaul: I moved away.
  • 05:33 I just realized it afterwards, yes.
  • 05:35 Yes, I grew up in Tel Aviv, and I came to know the Lord after
  • 05:41 a journey in the Far East.
  • 05:44 It was three people, God sent three people to my--to me, and
  • 05:50 the last one was actually of that--after that journey in the
  • 05:54 Far East.
  • 05:56 He led me eventually to read his, his book, his testimony
  • 06:01 book, and that led me, a year later, after I struggled with
  • 06:05 the fact that Jesus is the Lord, that Jesus is the Messiah.
  • 06:10 It was mind-boggling to me.
  • 06:12 But after I researched the scriptures, I came back to that
  • 06:15 person and I decided to receive Yeshua to my heart.
  • 06:20 That was the first time that I've experienced his love,
  • 06:24 his--the presence of the Holy Spirit.
  • 06:25 It was a beautiful time, and it was back in June of 1996.
  • 06:33 Joshua: I always knew there was something special about
  • 06:34 that year.
  • 06:36 It makes so much sense now.
  • 06:37 Caleb: But, but that, that presence of God in your heart
  • 06:41 has really kind of excited you.
  • 06:44 It’s pushed you forward, because you're an evangelist now.
  • 06:46 You go out and you the lost to Yeshua.
  • 06:49 Tell us about your group and what y'all do to literally go
  • 06:52 out on the street and talk to strangers and tell them their
  • 06:55 Messiah is Yeshua.
  • 06:56 Shaul: Yeah, the name of our team is Isaiah 62, and we feel
  • 06:59 called to share the good news in the streets, and we believe that
  • 07:06 we, we are always having the Jewish people in our minds, the
  • 07:11 Jews and the Israelis.
  • 07:12 And we really--our guideline is Romans 1:16.
  • 07:16 However, we believe that every--most of the Gentiles in
  • 07:19 the world, they have always Jewish friends as
  • 07:22 policy insurance.
  • 07:23 So, you know, we're trying to reach them and find out through
  • 07:27 them with the hope that they will bring in also the
  • 07:31 Jewish people.
  • 07:33 It's a real lovely experience.
  • 07:35 Caleb: And if people don't know, this is a monumental,
  • 07:38 mind-boggling thing that was prophesied to happen thousands
  • 07:43 of years ago for Jews to be the witnesses of Yeshua, for Jews to
  • 07:48 be a light to the Gentiles.
  • 07:50 It's prophesied here by Isaiah 49, verse 6, "It is too small a
  • 07:56 thing that You should be My Servant to raise up the tribes
  • 07:59 of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will
  • 08:02 also give You as a light to the Gentiles, that You should be my
  • 08:05 salvation to the ends of the earth."
  • 08:08 Wow, that's, that's amazing because that's the call that
  • 08:11 Yeshua gave to his Talmudim, his disciples, and you're taking up
  • 08:16 that call 2,000 years later just as they did in the 1st
  • 08:19 century AD.
  • 08:21 Shaul: First, I want to encourage anybody of you, just
  • 08:24 go and share the good news, learn how to share, of course,
  • 08:30 dig into his Word, and--but all I could say is there will be
  • 08:34 rejection, there will be rejection, there--to be--if
  • 08:38 you're going to think that you're gonna be 100% accepted,
  • 08:43 something is not good.
  • 08:45 The gospel that you're sharing, something is--
  • 08:49 Caleb: Doesn't have power.
  • 08:50 Shaul: Doesn’t have power.
  • 08:52 There is rejection out there.
  • 08:53 Joshua: I think it's interesting that, you know, you're a
  • 08:54 marksman in the natural, and as an evangelist, that's pretty
  • 08:57 much a supernatural marksman, because the Holy Spirit puts a
  • 08:59 target on somebody and you go out and share the gospel.
  • 09:02 What are we gonna learn today in the natural with these weapons
  • 09:05 about how to be a marksman and how to properly sight your
  • 09:08 target and shoot your target?
  • 09:10 Shaul: Okay, we're gonna set targets around 100 yards from
  • 09:16 us, and what, what we usually do, we just fire like around
  • 09:22 three bullets, and then we go to the target, and eventually,
  • 09:26 you're gonna see a group of those bullets hitting the paper
  • 09:30 if you're gonna hit the paper.
  • 09:31 Joshua: I was about to say, or on the ground.
  • 09:32 Shaul: Yeah on the ground, yeah.
  • 09:34 And, and then, from there, we can calculate how to get to a
  • 09:38 bull's-eye, and I'll show it to you once we're, we're gonna
  • 09:41 get there.
  • 09:43 Caleb: All right, because the whole message of today is faith
  • 09:44 and I'm gonna trust you that I'm not just going to wing a whole
  • 09:46 bunch of cars that are driving by by accident.
  • 09:48 Shaul: Yeah, yeah, we're gonna go to a safer area, a safer area
  • 09:52 that we could shoot for a long range.
  • 09:54 Caleb: Sweet, let’s go.
  • 09:56 Shaul: All right, thank you.
  • 09:58 [gun firing]
  • 10:00 Caleb: What was that? [laughing]
  • 10:05 Shaul: I can tell you, if a bullet goes through the branch,
  • 10:07 it will poof.
  • 10:09 Caleb: Well, that would look cool.
  • 10:12 You might have another--
  • 10:14 Joshua: Now, all of you manly men at home will say, "Look, I'm
  • 10:19 not aiming for this, it's too easy.
  • 10:21 I'm aiming for that bull's-eye."
  • 10:24 Good for y'all, go ahead.
  • 10:26 I'm, yeah.
  • 10:30 Shaul: Yeah, put one in the barrel, and put the other one in
  • 10:32 the clip, all right, and we are going to shoot that target,
  • 10:39 all right.
  • 10:41 All right, so, shoot three bullets, focus on the red dot on
  • 10:50 the bull's-eye.
  • 10:51 Look, look at the, the triangle of the target.
  • 10:55 Now shut one of your eyes, shut your left eye.
  • 11:00 Caleb: I can't shut my left eye.
  • 11:02 Shaul: Shut your left eye. Caleb: I can't.
  • 11:05 Shaul: What do you mean you can't?
  • 11:06 Caleb: I can’t, I can’t.
  • 11:08 Shaul: Put the, put the in both eyes on the target, and then
  • 11:10 shut your right eye.
  • 11:11 Caleb: Yeah, I can see it in the target.
  • 11:13 Shaul: Do you still see the target?
  • 11:15 Caleb: Yep.
  • 11:16 Joshua: Now here we have Shaul teaching about Caleb being
  • 11:18 a freak for having the wrong dominant eye, for being
  • 11:20 right-handed, but all you can hear is my dominant audio
  • 11:22 channel takeover thanks to our sound guy mixing the
  • 11:25 wrong tracks.
  • 11:27 Yes, I had hay fever that day, stupid Texas.
  • 11:29 [gun firing]
  • 11:35 Shaul: All right, we will know later if you hit it.
  • 11:39 Caleb: Well, when we went to target practice, it finally came
  • 11:42 clear that I was using my wrong eye for shooting, that's right.
  • 11:47 It's kind of hard, you know, staring with the opposite eye
  • 11:50 with the right hand, you know?
  • 11:52 I still got the target closer than anybody else.
  • 11:55 Almost bull’s-eye.
  • 11:57 Caleb: Look at that, woo-hoo, look at that, come here, come
  • 12:02 over here, look at that!
  • 12:03 Dominant eye didn't get--when I wasn't using my dominant eye, it
  • 12:07 went clear over, but look, here we have our two wounds,
  • 12:12 death wounds.
  • 12:13 This is a hog right here.
  • 12:15 He's bleeding out somewhere in the forest.
  • 12:16 We're chasing him down, sicking the dogs after him.
  • 12:19 C for Caleb, C for Caleb.
  • 12:28 Just put it in?
  • 12:29 Shaul: Draw it, yeah, put it in.
  • 12:31 Give a little bit of a tap when you put it in, all right, and
  • 12:38 you pull this all the way out, yeah, towards the target.
  • 12:42 Caleb: I can't get my hand in there.
  • 12:44 Shaul: Yeah, just from the side.
  • 12:49 All right, it's all ready to roll.
  • 12:52 Shaul: So do some primer breathing then hold your breath,
  • 12:56 relax and after you shot.
  • 13:01 Caleb: Okay.
  • 13:02 [gun firing]
  • 13:05 Joshua: It's not that I'm not excited, I am, but I've
  • 13:07 literally never shot a rifle before, so the odds of me
  • 13:10 hitting a target on a piece of paper 100 yards away are very
  • 13:12 low, and I can accept that.
  • 13:15 Oh yeah!
  • 13:18 Shaul: You did a good Job.
  • 13:19 Joshua: Okay.
  • 13:20 Shaul: All right, you hit the paper, you're in the
  • 13:22 right direction.
  • 13:23 Joshua: That was Caleb's, I think.
  • 13:25 Mine's the hole I shot straight through Caleb's, obviously to
  • 13:27 show that I could.
  • 13:29 Shaul: And it looks like it's a great grouping right here.
  • 13:32 So, from, from dealing with my scope, all we need to do is
  • 13:38 several clicks down and several clicks to the right in order to
  • 13:45 zero yourself in.
  • 13:46 Joshua: But more so, what we learned today from this is that,
  • 13:49 am I, right now with my skill set, meant to kill a flamingo?
  • 13:53 No, it's neck is way too skinny.
  • 13:54 But a hog, that hit somewhere in a hog.
  • 13:58 Shaul: Yeah, yeah, but you're not far, you can--once we're
  • 14:01 gonna zero it in, you're gonna hit a hog, okay?
  • 14:05 All right.
  • 14:07 Joshua: I'm gonna purify the land.
  • 14:16 Joshua: Quick, quick, before Shaul gets back, quick.
  • 14:18 Caleb: Got the ham, got the bacon.
  • 14:23 Joshua: Get the bacon jam, the bacon jam.
  • 14:26 Caleb: Bacon jam, all right, he’s coming.
  • 14:32 Shaul: We are somewhere in the USA.
  • 14:35 It looks like, the gear and everything looks like we are in
  • 14:38 operation in Afghanistan or Iraq, but we're not.
  • 14:42 And we're going to try to find some hogs or other animals that
  • 14:49 are considered vermins.
  • 14:52 So, we are ready to good to go.
  • 14:54 Shaul: Safe, you see that, safe?
  • 14:56 And this is fire.
  • 14:58 Safe, fire.
  • 15:01 So when you're ready to shoot, plick.
  • 15:11 Shaul: Okay, lock and load.
  • 15:14 Caleb: Acts 10:9 through 15, "Peter went up on the housetop
  • 15:18 to pray, about the sixth hour.
  • 15:20 Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they
  • 15:23 made ready, he fell into a trance and saw heaven opened and
  • 15:27 an object like a great sheet, bound at the four corners,
  • 15:31 descending to him and let down to the earth.
  • 15:33 In it were all kinds of four footed animals of the earth,
  • 15:36 wild beasts, creeping things, and the birds of the air.
  • 15:40 And a voice came to him, 'Rise, Peter; kill and eat.'
  • 15:44 But Peter said, 'Not so, Lord!
  • 15:46 For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.'
  • 15:49 And a voice spoke to him
  • 15:50 again the second time, 'What God has cleansed you
  • 15:54 must not call common.’
  • 15:55 This was done three times.
  • 15:57 And the object was taken up into heaven again."
  • 16:03 Joshua: It looks like a hog, I'm gonna shoot it.
  • 16:06 Caleb: It's not a hog.
  • 16:08 Joshua: It's a hog, and I think I'm gonna shoot it.
  • 16:09 Caleb: I see antlers.
  • 16:14 Caleb: Clearly this day, God was really trying.
  • 16:17 He was strengthening me, he was testing me, 'cause there was two
  • 16:22 deer, beautiful deer, right in my scope.
  • 16:26 I finally know how to shoot now.
  • 16:28 Guess what, it's not deer season.
  • 16:30 I can't shoot the deer.
  • 16:32 I can't shoot the hogs.
  • 16:36 Joshua: I feel like those aren't deer.
  • 16:37 I feel like those are hogs disguised as deer so that they
  • 16:40 don't die today.
  • 16:43 There's only one way to find out.
  • 16:45 I'm gonna shoot it in the head and see if the antlers fall off,
  • 16:48 and if they do, it's a hog, all right.
  • 16:53 Just so you know, I need your driver's license and your car
  • 16:56 keys really quick to borrow.
  • 16:58 Caleb: No, if you get arrested, it's not my fault.
  • 17:03 Joshua: My name's Caleb Colson.
  • 17:05 I live on Gigs--oh, I shouldn't say that. [chuckling]
  • 17:14 Shaul: Yeah, there's another one.
  • 17:18 They know that we are here.
  • 17:50 Joshua: Now Shaul said that we weren't allowed to speak out
  • 17:52 here because our words would scatter the enemy, so we had to
  • 17:55 use sign language.
  • 17:57 Now I thought I could use American Standard Sign Language,
  • 17:59 but doesn't everybody?
  • 18:01 What if those hogs had learned the same language and were
  • 18:03 listening to what I was saying?
  • 18:05 This is my brother, him and I, I've known him since the day he
  • 18:08 was born, so I used the language that I knew for a fact that he
  • 18:11 would understand, intimate like that, it's brotherhood.
  • 18:22 Caleb: That, that, that's not a sign language.
  • 18:25 It's not even a hieroglyphs, maybe Sanskrit, but I don't,
  • 18:31 I don't know a word you're saying, Josh.
  • 18:32 [branches crackling]
  • 18:48 Joshua: [snorting]
  • 18:51 For 12 seconds, I thought somehow the sound effects of me
  • 18:54 eating at Golden Corral were reverberating off the forest
  • 18:56 walls, but no, I knew in that moment the swine was near.
  • 19:01 Could we taste it?
  • 19:02 Will we get it?
  • 19:04 I don't know.
  • 19:05 But victory is close, and she is deliciously unkosher.
  • 19:09 [animal noises]
  • 19:11 [hog squealing]
  • 19:19 [screaming]
  • 19:25 Joshua: Shaul, Shaul, man look at this.
  • 19:28 That hog got me.
  • 19:30 I almost took him out like you said with the tactics of the
  • 19:33 IDF, and then I realized I've never been in the IDF.
  • 19:36 Shaul: Did you jump off the tree as I taught you with the knife?
  • 19:40 Joshua: No, I grabbed that little thornbush and tried to
  • 19:42 swing down.
  • 19:43 Shaul: Yeah, with the Finnish knife, yeah, finish him with
  • 19:45 a Finnish knife.
  • 19:47 Joshua: I failed you this time.
  • 19:49 Caleb: Well, that brings to the question, Shaul, if he did catch
  • 19:53 that swine, I mean, Peter's vision in Acts 10, "Arise,
  • 19:57 Peter, kill and eat the camels, the bats, the lizards, and
  • 20:01 the swine."
  • 20:03 Does that mean that now, since Yeshua has come, we can eat
  • 20:06 pigs, we can eat bacon?
  • 20:07 Joshua: Before you answer that, I've eaten everything that Peter
  • 20:10 just described in that dream, so answer, answer sweetly.
  • 20:14 Shaul: Yeah, and I ate also during my time in traveling in
  • 20:21 the Far East, I ate also some weird animals like squids and,
  • 20:26 but I never like it.
  • 20:27 My--for some reason my Jewish belly couldn't accept it
  • 20:30 as good.
  • 20:31 Peter gave a commentary to that vision already by understanding
  • 20:36 that he should go and reach the Gentiles.
  • 20:39 That vision was given to him right before he was the, the
  • 20:45 messengers of Cornelius was knocking on his door of his host
  • 20:50 in Jaffa.
  • 20:51 So, and Peter completely understood that, that he should
  • 20:57 go and share the good news with, with the Gentiles starting
  • 21:01 with Cornelius.
  • 21:02 Caleb: Well, what about this?
  • 21:04 In Galatians 3:28, it says, "There is neither Jew nor
  • 21:07 Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there a male and female,
  • 21:11 for you are all one in Yeshua The Messiah."
  • 21:13 So, if we're all one, Jews and Gentiles, and he's removed that
  • 21:19 line of separation, we're all a part of the Commonwealth
  • 21:22 of Israel.
  • 21:23 I remember, you know, in the first Jerusalem council, this
  • 21:26 was the big hubbub.
  • 21:27 Now that Gentiles were coming to faith, people want to know,
  • 21:30 "Okay, do we have to make the Gentiles keep kosher?
  • 21:33 Do they have to get circumcised?"
  • 21:36 So that's the big question.
  • 21:37 Can we?
  • 21:39 You may not--Yeshua may not say, "Oh, oh, you can," but if you're
  • 21:42 not a Jew anymore because you know the faith of the covenant
  • 21:46 came through Abraham before the circumcision, what do we do now?
  • 21:50 Shaul: I think that Yeshua came to not to be concerned so much
  • 21:56 about our stomachs but to circumcise our hearts.
  • 22:01 That was his main goal.
  • 22:03 We need to be one man in our hearts.
  • 22:07 We need to understand that Paul was called to the Gentiles,
  • 22:11 so he didn't want to bring more.
  • 22:13 And he had this ma--serious, serious struggle with the
  • 22:18 Judaizers, those people that wanted to implement all the 613
  • 22:23 commandments over the Gentiles.
  • 22:26 There was a big movement over there.
  • 22:27 By the way, though I'm--I believe that those people,
  • 22:31 Judaizers, as the Orthodox of today, they, they cannot fulfill
  • 22:35 all those 613, it's impossible.
  • 22:38 They would admit, if you're gonna go and be one-on-one
  • 22:41 talking with an Orthodox Jew, you'll find out that they
  • 22:44 fulfill 36 commandments out of all the 613 commandments.
  • 22:49 So Paul was speaking separately to the Gentiles about not to
  • 22:53 adding more burden to them.
  • 22:55 On top of that, I believe that Paul kept kosher because he
  • 22:59 claimed in the Book of Acts, in the end of the book of Acts, he
  • 23:04 spoke with the Jews.
  • 23:05 He was in Rome, and the Jews came to see him, and what did
  • 23:09 Paul say?
  • 23:10 He said, "I have done nothing against the commandments of God
  • 23:14 and your traditions."
  • 23:17 Traditions is also to keep kosher in that very
  • 23:21 Pharisee way.
  • 23:22 So Paul, I believe that Paul himself kept kosher, but he
  • 23:26 didn't want to put that burden over the Gentiles.
  • 23:29 Caleb: The first church in Jerusalem at that first
  • 23:33 Jerusalem council, when they asked the Holy Spirit, "What
  • 23:36 should we do to these Gentiles?"
  • 23:38 They said in Acts 15:20, Holy Spirit led them, "abstain
  • 23:42 from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the
  • 23:46 meat of strangled animals and from blood."
  • 23:48 And that, that's it, they didn't want to press that, that
  • 23:53 obligation on Gentiles who had never lived, you know, a Jewish
  • 23:57 life and never been a part of a circumcision.
  • 24:00 So it shows the love, I think, the love of God, how he's trying
  • 24:03 to--it's all about the heart within.
  • 24:05 You know, like God said to Samuel about David, "The Lord
  • 24:09 doesn't look on the outward appearance, the Lord looks
  • 24:12 on the heart."
  • 24:13 Shaul: Again, Paul, I think he was in one line with that, the
  • 24:20 council, the Jerusalem, the first Jerusalem council.
  • 24:23 He was, he was in one line not to add more burden over, over
  • 24:29 the Gentiles, so to him--
  • 24:31 Joshua: So to make it super
  • 24:32 simple from my small, pea-sized giant person brain, what I'm
  • 24:35 hearing, and it seems that it's so funny because this is
  • 24:37 applicable in just about every biblical question, it comes down
  • 24:41 to where is your heart on this matter on both sides?
  • 24:44 If you are living kosher out of a heart of legalism that says
  • 24:47 "this is what makes me pure and holy," you're in the wrong.
  • 24:50 Jesus did that.
  • 24:51 Yeshua, Yeshua paid the price.
  • 24:52 If you are saying "I refuse to do that and I'm gonna eat all
  • 24:55 the swine I can" out of the heart of showing that you're
  • 24:58 free from the law and legalism, then that's wrong heart as well.
  • 25:02 Now it's interesting that eating kosher is actually healthier,
  • 25:05 and the times that they lived in, following those practices
  • 25:07 would have put them in a healthier situation.
  • 25:09 So God in his omnipotence and omniscious asked questions of
  • 25:12 people that were both to benefit them and also to show them they
  • 25:17 needed him.
  • 25:18 Caleb: I think it shows that Josh in Colossians 2:16.
  • 25:22 The reason why Paul said this to the church is because he didn't
  • 25:27 want them to judge people's hearts because he said God
  • 25:30 judges the heart.
  • 25:31 He says, "Let no one judge you in food or in drink, or
  • 25:34 regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are
  • 25:37 shadows of things to come, but the substance is of
  • 25:40 Messiah Christ."
  • 25:42 So he's saying, "Okay, you don't know why this man's not
  • 25:45 keeping kosher.
  • 25:46 It's not your job to police him.
  • 25:48 It's Yeshua's job to know his heart."
  • 25:50 And that's how we are judged in heaven for, you know, are we
  • 25:54 loving Yeshua?
  • 25:56 Are we doing this for a reason or not?
  • 25:57 Are we just trying to get attention?
  • 25:58 Just like the Pharisees who went out and tried to, you know,
  • 26:02 starve themselves and fast and let everybody see their
  • 26:04 countenance, and Yeshua said, "Don't let people see your
  • 26:06 countenance when you fast, do it in secret," because it was all
  • 26:09 for show.
  • 26:11 Shaul: I believe that, again, God is is more looking at the
  • 26:15 heart and our circumcised heart, our broken spirit, our desire to
  • 26:22 have intimacy with him more than being legalistic about kosher,
  • 26:29 what is kosher and what is not.
  • 26:31 Caleb: So I think that gives us legal right to go, and find this
  • 26:34 swine, and go kill it with the love of Yeshua, so let's go
  • 26:38 find it.
  • 26:40 Joshua: You really gonna try to eat it after you kill--this
  • 26:42 really, it smells bad.
  • 26:44 Shaul: Come on, let's go.
  • 26:50 Joshua: Okay. [snorting]
  • 26:58 They can't see us through these very skinny trees on the ground.
  • 27:05 [hog grunting]
  • 27:20 I heard something.
  • 27:22 [hog grunting]

  • 28:00 Shaul: Even though we sin, we need to focus.
  • 28:06 Give him glory and honor in everything that we do.
  • 28:11 Caleb: I am the younger brother.
  • 28:12 Josh is the elder.
  • 28:14 Being the younger brother means that you have to save the older
  • 28:16 brother from doing things that would be an endangerment
  • 28:18 to himself.
  • 28:20 Joshua: But I keep hearing sounds of a wounded baby coyote
  • 28:22 and think maybe I should go save it.
  • 28:24 Caleb: Shoot it!
  • 28:25 [gun firing]
  • 28:27 Joshua: Glad to hear that for one hour, dying animal.
