Jaffa
Jaffa

The main seaport of Judea and gateway to Jerusalem (38 miles away). Today, Jaffa is a suburb of Tel Aviv.

Jonah left Jaffa (Joppa) in a ship for Tarshish to "flee from the LORD" (Jonah 1:3).

Simon Peter had his vision of the sheet containing unclean animals descending from heaven while in Jaffa, before he was sent to the household of Cornelius the centurion in Caesarea. "…God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life" (Acts 10:24-48).

Peter also raised Tabitha (Dorcas) to life at Jaffa (Acts 9:36–43).
