The Jewish roots of Christianity

Highlighting: OFF ON

Myles & Katharine Weiss

Dear friends,

Zola was refreshingly straightforward about his faith in Jesus. Even “back in the day” before the present generation of Jewish believers in Yeshua (myself included) arrived on the scene. During that early season of Christian Zionism, the small group of gentiles vocally supporting Israel had yet to become the solid contingent of media and political clout that it is now. The need had not yet arisen for Jewish Believers and Christians Zionists to join forces.

In this day and age, however, the gentile Christians who love Israel need to also recognize and support their Jewish brethren who serve our Messiah in both the Land and the Diaspora. This is exactly what Katharine and I do through ZLM.

We are told by Rabbi Shaul (Apostle Paul) to “do good to all, especially to those of the household of faith” (Galatians 6:10). That invocation enhances Katharine’s and my pilgrimages to Israel: introducing pilgrims to “Ancient Rocks and Living Stones.”

“So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” — Galatians 6:10 The ancient rocks refer to the precious Land itself from which we draw awe-inspiring spiritual lessons. Israel’s very dust preaches about the truth of God. Along the way, Katharine and I realized the necessity for us to pray for and financially support the ministries in Israel that are boldly standing for Yeshua.

It is essential that Believers participate in the Gospel going forth “To the Jew First.” Through our ministry’s mission trips to Israel, our chaplain and theologian, Dr. Todd Baker, lives and breathes this imperative from Romans 1:16.

When you stand with our ministry, you also support “Our Man in Haifa,” Eitan Shishkoff, whose Tents of Mercy ministry helps shelter many immigrants in Israel. We are continually expanding our reach to those who need the Gospel and also to those in the Church who need to understand their faith’s origin. The task is daunting, but we must rise to the occasion! As you know, our ministry continually seeks souls via television, mail, and the World Wide Web.

Katharine recently taught at a Chinese missionary conference in California. At the end, a visiting Israeli woman asked her for prayer. After some general prayers, Katharine realized she was not a Believer and asked, “Would you like to receive Yeshua as your Passover Lamb who takes away your sins?” Katharine then led the Israeli in a salvation commitment to Jesus. Just think of the day in which we live—Chinese “Christians Standing with Israel” lovers of Israel hold a “back to Jerusalem” conference in California, and an Israeli comes to faith there!

At a recent gathering of Messianic leaders and their families on the east coast, we delighted to see healthy growth in the Body of Messiah. The increasing number of “dual expression” ministries that conduct Jewish-flavored services in the context of a local congregation offer a model for churches around the world.

The vanguard of this “one new man” (Ephesians 2:14-15) expression is led by the entry of Jewish truths into the historically gentile Church. For more than three decades, ZLM has been a forerunner in this movement. Though we work within the international Body of Messiah, we teach a new (yet ancient!) perspective. Zola recognized “Christianity through Jewish eyes.” This dual expression has the potential to gently but consistently prepare the Body for the coming of the Lord.

The Tikkun Family Conference Katharine and I attended on the east coast validated the need for the Messianic movement to reach out to the Church in the world with a spirit of respect and cooperation. The theme “Compelled by the Spirit” stressed the urgency of the hour. We cannot be timid as Yeshua’s return approaches. Many conference attendees thanked Katharine and me for the high quality of our Zola Levitt Presents TV programs. We heard repeatedly, “I thought the ministry might fold after Zola’s death, but it appears that God plans to increase what ZLM is doing.”

We Bible teachers have a monumental commission and a tremendous responsibility.

“Silence is not an option when the Jewish state is under attack” The universal Church is starving for a heavenly plumb line (point of reference). Unless we Believers recognize THE apple of God’s eye—Israel—we will continue to squander our efforts. If we “get” the Israel piece, the biblical puzzle takes shape. All the moral issues fall into place once we grasp the root of the matter. God’s sovereignty, His prophetic Word, the call on His Chosen People, the grafting-in of the gentiles by faith—these all become clear.

Unfortunately, the resistance to Israel and the Jewish people remains universal. The restoration of Israel should be a heavenly trumpet call to the world: “I said it; I did it; will you believe it?” Yet behind the tumult in the Middle East (and the entire world) lurks this same challenge to these truths: The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the One True God. His Word is the only genuine prophetic Holy Scripture on planet Earth. The promise of a Deliverer was fulfilled in Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah), who came as the Lamb of God and is returning as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.

Our ministry is presently negotiating with two faith-based television networks to broadcast Zola Levitt Presents. Please consider a special gift or new commitment to our work at this time. We need everyone who embraces our Bible teaching to step up and share our burden to broadcast God’s mighty Word. Thanks for your past support in standing with us to expand the Gospel’s reach. Please take a fresh view of all that our small organization provides.

Katharine and I plan eight days of filming in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria this fall. We cannot undertake such endeavors without your partnership. Can we count on you to join with us at a higher level? The anti-Semitic, anti-Zionist, anti- Christ forces in the world are not resting, you can be sure. You and I must forge ahead in our purpose!

This month on Zola Levitt Presents please watch for the concluding segment of one of my favorite TV series, Acts: Then and Now … the story continues.

The First and the Last
In separate interviews, pastors Peter Tsukahira from Mount Carmel and Asher Intrater of Revive Israel lead us on a “God’s eye” view of the role Messianic Believers play in these Last Days. Pastor Intrater delivers an important word regarding the responsi- bility of rising Jewish leadership in Israel.

Note: Since the recording of this program, major Christian leaders have journeyed to Israel to receive prayer from Asher and his team, recognizing the authority that is rising from Israel. Wow… is the Lord coming soon?!

Then we begin our seven-part report on the January 2013 Future Congress 2 conference. Katharine and I joined a gathering in Dallas comprising Hal Lindsey, the late Jack Kinsella, Bill Koenig, and other key teachers on prophecy. Katharine and I presented our marriage seminar as a reminder to take care of the “home front” as these Last Days become increasingly intense. Part of my heavenly mandate and hers is to prepare families by using the ancient wisdom of Jewish sages and Hebrew Scriptures.

This television series that covers the Conference lets you experience amazing testimonies, teachings, interviews, and roundtables with Messianic leaders.

Future Congress 2 poster Of course, the best way for most Believers like you to “integrate” our ministry’s wealth of Bible teaching and commentary on prophecy fulfillment is to set foot on the soil of God’s land, Israel.

Zola often commented that a journey to Israel was worth more than ten years of Sunday School. Through tears, a pastor on tour with us implored: “Myles, why wasn’t this done 35 years ago in seminary? Why did I have to wait my whole ministry life to learn these things?”

Don’t you wait!

Come with us on the 30th Anniversary Zola Tour this fall. We plan some very special touches to celebrate our considerable history of study tours in Israel. Our true friend and congregation member, Rosemary Schindler, will be joining us as guest tour manager. Rosemary is an ambassador for the Lord, continuing in the footsteps of her great-uncle Oskar Schindler—building bridges of love in preparation for the Messiah’s coming. Zola Tours: (214) 696-9760.

P.S. Isn’t it marvelous: “Christian Zionists” and “Messianic Believers” coming together? The menorah of God—full of light from the oil of the gentiles and the oil of the Jews—just might be the impetus for the revival and awakening for which we all reach!
