The Jewish roots of Christianity

Highlighting: OFF ON

Myles & Katharine Weiss

Dear Friend,

L’dor V’dor (From generation to generation). Does any human theme run more profoundly through the Scriptures? Legacy means passing on something of great value to those who come after. What a rich notion.

L’dor V’dor is a central theme for Zola Levitt Ministries. We pass forward the legacy that Zola received through inspiration from God. This ministry understands that we have been given a mandate and its complementary trust. We consider this legacy holy—an opportunity to tell our generation the truth of Messiah and His Jewish family, and teach them to teach the next.

We keep teaching because our message is the most important one on the planet! God is not willing that any perish (2 Peter 3:9). Yet, as the Apostle Paul wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, “How can they hear without someone being sent to them?” (Rom.10:15). Zola was raised up and sent by God to confront this lost and dying world with the Good News and a challenge to stand with God’s eternally chosen and perennially chased little family, the sons of promise—the sons of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Zola was unique among his peers because he introduced audiences (most for the first time) to the “Jewishness” of Jesus and the centrality of Israel in the prophetic history and future of planet Earth. Throughout the centuries, Christians repeatedly produce a loving remnant whose members are kind to the point of laying down their lives for the Jewish people. In its tragic history, the Church has “hands stained with blood” (as noted by brilliant Messianic Bible scholar Dr. Michael L. Brown).

Each generation contains “righteous gentiles” who have kept the faith. That faithfulness has now traversed the centuries and brought the Gospel back to the Jewish people. Think of it! The Good News that left Jerusalem 2,000 years ago is going back in full force. Not only are right-thinking Christians sending Hebrew New Testaments and a living witness to Jerusalem, Jewish Believers then export the Word to the nations of the world. As Isaiah promised,

Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:3)

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob keeps His covenant promises and continues to fulfill them in our day. The Bible is literally going forth from Israel. A brilliant, faith-filled company named MegaVoice sends out the Scriptures in a hand-held, solar-powered, waterproof device that contains the Bible recorded in the languages of the unreached people of the Earth. No longer does a lone translator need to spend the better part of his life translating for Wycliffe or some other reputable ministry. Now he gets assistance from these little high-tech marvels. All around the world, the Good News is appearing in indigenous sounds, so that “every tongue and every tribe” can rejoice in the God of our salvation! The beaming faces of audio-Bible recipients leap off the computer screen at MegaVoice.com, allowing the viewer to look into the very goodness of God. The mystery of God is revealed in our day, thanks to the blessing that comes L’dor V’dor.

For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? (Romans 10:13–15)

And so it goes. Each generation of Believers inherits the task to be a “shofar” to life. We proclaim, warn, decree, and above all, point to Him—the One who is and who was and who is to come (Rev.1:4).

In our generation, Zola was one of the first. He helped pave the way for us, the Messianic Believers who follow. Now, dozens of TV programs touch Israel, many claiming to be an original; but Zola was the real thing. Jeff and Sandra faithfully continued the heartbeat that now falls to Katharine and me to keep going … and we will. We intend to keep expanding the reach of ZLM, to use contemporary media, social networking outlets, and state-of-the-art technology to reach ever more people.

Our most recent projects push us forward. The eight-program series The Sons of Promise continues the saga of Abraham and his descendants. Through the probing lens of producer Ken Berg and his Zola Levitt Presents TV production crew, the Book of Genesis sparks to life with the skill of Israeli actors. Shot on location, the ancient story unfolds as we juxtapose it with modern-day miracles of a restored Israel. These programs “connect the dots” and show viewers how God still works in our history.

Not only did He send Messiah through the Jewish people, He goes above and beyond. His character is so generous that He brings abundant riches in medicine, science, technology, arts, and literature through His small, natural family. The series’ interviews and backdrops in modern Israel tell a story that you won’t find on the evening news! It is the story of a gracious God who works through a gifted, imperfect people who continually bless the world.

As an extra treat on Zola Levitt Presents this month, you can watch two interviews with Ron Cantor, a Messianic leader in Israel. His new novel, Identity Theft, reveals the worldwide restoration of the “Jewishness” of Jesus, a preparation for His return. Ron candidly shares from his heart the truth of the New Testament and its logical, seamless connection with the Tanach (Old Testament).

Special Guest: Ron Cantor (part 1 of 2)
An American by birth, Ron felt called to move his family to Israel where he shares his faith in Messiah. Ron tells us about his book Identity Theft: How Jesus was Robbed of His Jewishness.
More with Ron Cantor (part 2 of 2)
Myles asks Ron to describe rearing children in Israel. Ron shares more from his book Identity Theft and gives us a fresh and encouraging perspective.

Following those two programs, we begin the Sons of Promise. This eight-part gem puts spiritual dynamite in your hands, pushing back against the lies of the contemporary, anti-Semitic media—a gratifying legacy for your children’s children, and ours.

SONS OF PROMISE—ISAAC & JACOB:

The Wells of Salvation
Abraham’s servant ventures out to find a wife for Isaac. Myles interviews Jan Willem van der Hoeven, a Dutch-born student of Corrie Ten Boom and longtime resident of Jerusalem and champion of the Jewish people. Mark Levitt interviews a representative of Bridges for Peace, one of ZLM’s Benevolence Fund recipients.
The Bridegroom and the Bride
Isaac and Rebekah’s love for each other represents that of Yeshua and the Bride of Christ. Myles interviews Saul Singer, co-author of Start-up Nation; Mark interviews a Jewish National Fund spokesman. Through JNF, ZLM contributors have planted a forest of trees in Israel.
Blessing, Covenant, Contention
The conflict between Ishmael and Isaac precedes the contention between Jacob and Esau. Mark interviews an archaeologist digging near the ancient City of David. Our ministry financially supports the ongoing unearthing of historical biblical treasures.

Zola, shown here with a younger Benjamin Netanyahu, was a staunch, faithful friend and defender of Israel for many years prior to his home-going.

Please pray for America during this pivotal time and also for our ministry, that the Lord will prosper our endeavors. Will you prayerfully consider supporting our outreach financially? When the future looks bleak, God’s message of hope needs to be spread more than ever. Please bear in mind that we will multiply whatever seed you sow for a bountiful harvest unto the Lord. And, of course, Sha’alu Shalom Yerushalayim, Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem! (Psalm 122:6)

Your brother in Messiah,
Myles

P.S. No matter what the nations of the world may plot or plan and however they may blunder, we Believers are not among those without hope! In fact, we are ever more filled with hope, because—as Luke 21:28 proclaims—our redemption draws ever near!
